Rationale for Change

June 5, 2026DEPARTMENT OF SOCIOLOGY:
ADMINISTRATIVE SUSPENSION OF ENROLMENT FOR THE CERTIFICATE IN COMPUTATIONAL SOCIAL SCIENCE (SCCER1040)
Enrolment in the Certificate in Computational Social Science will be administratively suspended effective October 2, 2026, and students will no longer be able to enrol in the certificate thereafter.

Students presently enrolled in the Certificate will be able to complete the certificate requirements as they are described in the Calendar active at the time students first chose the certificate as a Subject POSt. Students who are not enrolled in this certificate but are interested in training that integrates social science theory and perspectives with data science and artificial intelligence methods and tools are strongly recommended to consult the Department of Sociology and the Academic Advising & Career Centre for advising, as well as consider pursuing the Minor in Social Data Science instead.

June 10, 2026DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND SOCIETY:
DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND SOCIETY / LAWRENCE BLOOMBERG FACULTY OF NURSING: PRIORITY PATHWAY FOR STUDENTS IN THE CERTIFICATE IN PATHWAYS TO HEALTH PROFESSIONS
This update establishes and documents the PHPC Priority Pathway for applicants to the BScN program who are enrolled in or have completed the Certificate in Pathways to Health Professions.

The BScN program is an accelerated two-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree that prepares students for a career in health care. Applicants must meet all academic and supplementary application requirements for the BScN program and complete an equivalent number of PHPC-designated courses relative to their year of study (for example, two courses by the end of Year 2 when applying in Year 2).

Students are encouraged to complete courses in the Complex Systems, Structures, and Settings and Cultures, Communities and Care groupings prior to application; however, specific certificate courses within these groupings are not required.
