This course will introduce students to 2D digital animation using still and moving two-dimensional images along with a variety of software to produce digital animation projects. Students will learn animation techniques, digital drawing methods, sound mixing, and sequence editing. Students will also learn storyboarding and visual storytelling techniques to allow them to develop short, experimental animation works. The lectures, screenings, demonstrations, in-class exercises, assignments, and group critiques will give students a solid grounding in the technical and conceptual dimensions of 2D animation practice within a contemporary art context.
