ECTD66H3: Translation and Adaptation

This course aims to introduce students to critical engagements with translation and adaptation in the English-Chinese transcultural context. The course emphasizes the ideological implications and power dynamics in translation and adaptation between works in different media. Students will interpret transcultural intermedia productions across literary works and films through the lens of theoretical ideas such as rewriting, intertextuality, multimodality, and cultural appropriation.
