VPSB90H3: 3D Digital Animation

This course will introduce students to 3D digital animation and the fundamentals of three-dimensional wire frame modeling techniques for constructing screen-based objects, characters, environments, and animations. Working with standard 3D design and animation software, students will develop skills in texturing, lighting, and visual effects, sound mixing, and sequence editing. Students will also learn storyboarding and visual storytelling techniques to allow them to develop short, experimental animation works. The lectures, screenings, demonstrations, in-class exercises, assignments, and group critiques will give students a solid grounding in the technical and conceptual dimensions of 3D animation practice within a contemporary art context
